Alto Saxophone

Straight No chaser Big band

Leah joined the band in October 2004.

Leah started her musical career on cello, but soon gave that up after her parents threatened to remove the strings. She then studied saxophone during her school days under Brian Blake('s Barmy Army) in Hastings, where she played in all the local youth jazz bands.

She then went to university in Durham where she studied French and German at BA level and Medieval French at MA level. She was president of the university big band for two years and secretary for one, and during her year abroad played lead alto in the Detmold Big Band in Germany.

Upon leaving university, she started work as an
editor at Penguin and searched far and wide for a brilliant new big band in which to play, but was unfortunately snapped up by SNC before she got the chance to look too far and was made to play flute ;) Now she's looking for any means of escape possible, including studying medieval French at Oxford or Durham (yuck - she must be desperate) from October 2006. Nuff said.

For some utterly inexplainable reason recruitment of trombones into the band has sky-rocketed since Leah joined.
