Alan Sandilands, Tenor Saxophone


Alan Sandilands started playing the cornet at the age of 10, joined the Crawley Silver Band at 14 and switched to Saxophone at 15. In the early 60's he studied with professional Brighton musician and teacher John Nicholls on Alto and Baritone Saxophones. Subsequent experience in Dance, Big Swing and Concert bands and jazz groups in the UK, USA and Canada, adding Flute and Clarinet to Saxophone playing.

Alan has worked for the last 40 years as a professional mechanical design engineer taking early retirement in 2001 to concentrate on Saxophone teaching as well as leading his group, "Jazz Nucleus" at local venues.
