WHATS NEW?

Straight no Chaser to play at the watermill Jazz Club!
The big band will performing at this prestigious jazz club just outside Dorking on Thursday 19th july. We will be performing some of our most challenging (for us) and exciting (for you) repertoire, so please come and join us

Its David O'Flynn! After a year spent travelling around the world Dave is back and playing with the band again. Look forward to seeing him on the bass trombone chair at our forthcoming gigs

Straight No Chaser performed with various vocalists at the Hove Town Hall on 26th January. A superb night with dancing all evening, and wonderful performances from the band. Also we raised over £8000 for The Martletts Hospice in Brighton during the evening!

Straight No Chaser is an 18 strong big band based in and around Sussex, England.

We play a huge variety of music, varying from the bluesy swing of Count Basie and his Orchestra, to modern up tempo funk and latin tunes, as well as all the classic big band favourites. Music from many of the great band leaders features in our library which has 300 numbers in it; including music from greats musicians such as Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Gordon Goodwin...to name just a few.

Where Do We Play?

The band rehearses (and has beer) about once a fortnight on Monday nights at The Jack and Jill Pub, Clayton, Sussex. Visitors are most welcome to come and have a listen.

We also run and perform regularly at Rowfant House Jazz Club, near Crawley, West Sussex. Normally every 2nd sunday of the month

 

We also play at a large variety of other functions, shows, charity events, private parties and weddings, as well as putting on regular theatre performances. Please check our event calendar to view future public gigs or contact us to discuss a booking.
